Windows XP Only reconizes 256mb of ram out of 1GB after restoring computer to factory settings!?
My Hp Compaq Desktop computer was running really slow so i decided redo my computer from scratch so i booted up pressing either f10 or f11 (one of those) and restored my computer back to how it was when i first bought it. Before I did this i had a full 1gb of ram. But now i only have 256MB and it's really stressful so please.
You will likely have to go into Bios and turn up the amount of RAM. Some computers are set up like this >.> Or rather the Motherboard is set up like this. You have to tell it how much RAM is there.
Another posiblity is some of the RAM was damaged or burning out and that's why your computer slowed down to begin with. When you redid everything it may have picked up on the amount of RAM working properly.
Third posiblity is you are using an OS that you need to set how much RAM you have installed so that it will register it all.
I would also install Drivers Updates for your Motherboard and Graphics Card. You will have to go to their websites to do that. So your first step it looking up the exact Motherboard and exact Graphics Card on your computer.
