I'm mainly going to be using it for internet and Microsoft Word. Also I'll be hooking up my Mp3 player and Digital camera and maybe watch some DVDs.
If you have one please tell me if it works good.
For what you need it for any computer well do this.
You probably want the bigger screen sense you are going to watch DVD's. (do you want to watch DVD's on 12.1 in screen?)
The biggest thing you are missing is how much RAM does each have. You list 512mb for the Windows XP machine, that would work, but thats kind of low. Vista is big and hogs up a lot of resources. You need AT LEAT 1gb of RAM, 2 GB would be super!
Graphics aren't a problem because you don't plan on using the Laptop for games.
hard drive space probably would matter (the more the better) sense I assume you want to store music on the machine.
even 10 GB of Music is way more then most people have. (out of 200gb.)
Last is just processor speed and all of these are pretty much the same so that doesn't matter.
What you need to decided.
1. Vista or XP
2. How much Ram (depending on if it is vista or XP)
3. Screen size
4. battery Life.
