How come a Corvette that has 505 HP can get 20 miles the gallon?
I don't understand how a Corvette that has 505HP+ can get that many miles per gallon when a 400HP crate engine hooked to the same gears as a Corvette will only get around 10 miles to the gallon
Ok the list is incredible for the LS7 Z06 Corvettes that makes them very powerful yet enough miles per gallon that they don't get a luxury tax like other exotic cars. All of this with a single non-adjustable camshaft design and a naturally aspirated engine.
Ok it first starts with the C5R racing program, now C6R. There they developed technologies and tweaks to the Corvette to make it a competitive race car, lots of the races they competed in where endurance races where miles per gallon are a factor.
Also the chassis of the car and engine are all aluminum which not that long ago would be considered crazy exotic for a consumer car.
Pretty much the LS7 is a race engine.
