Is it worth it to upgrade my HP m7388hk desktop?
So my computer is a few years old and i dont really keep up with computer hardware or anything so I'm not sure if this pc is worth updating.
CPU : Pentium D 930 3.0GHZ
Ram : 1 gb 533mhz DDR2
Graphics: ATI x1300 Pro
Hard disk 250 gb 7200rpm
OS: windows XP 32 bit
I was looking up CPU's and mine looks really out dated, so do you think its worth upgrading the graphics card and RAM if I'm a casual gamer? And what would i upgrade to?
Games i generally want to play would be
Mirror's edge
far cry 2
legendary
etc.
-I can run mirror's edge pretty well on minimum graphics but it crashes on the 6th level, i dont know why
-i've tried far cry two but i get some pretty bad framerates =p
-I'm also graduating in a year and i'm not too sure about changing the whole CPU. But if i do change the graphics card, will the CPU affect it since its so old?
Well by the look at your specifications, you're computer is pretty outdated, and no way will you be able to play far cry 2 on a computer like that. i know that crysis has a minimum graphics requirement of i think a 7600 or higher. Anyway:
For a casual gamer, with good prices,
CPU:
Intel have better cards (IMO) but AMD has much better prices and value for money. Try an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ or higher
RAM:
2GB (mhz doesn't really matter)
Graphics card:
This is the main problem with your computer. A excellent card with a great price is the ATI Radeon HD 4770. it's about $170
OS: XP is fine, vista is good but sucks up a lot of RAM
Hard disk, doesn't really matter.
Make sure that the motherboard that you are planning on upgrading to supports all of the individual specs. If you're planning on playing any of those games really comfortably and upcoming games reasonably, then you DEFINITELY need an upgrade.
