changing my motherboard chipset.?
I have a Dell desktop computer: Optiplex GX620 with an intel 1945P chipset. I wish to change/upgrade my chipset so I can use faster processor like intel pentium dual core, core 2 quad, or core i7 etc. My current proccessor is intel pentium 4.
What chipsets (models) are available for me that fits into my computer. As long as I don't have to completely replace my whole computer box and all the components. What processors are available to upgrade?
You can't change the chipset. It is specific to the motherboard as is the socket for the processor. For a newer processor you will have to upgrade your motherboard.
