Error Message when I start computer?
I have a Dell OptiPlex GX620 running Windows XP SP3. Today, I turned it on and got this message: Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM. And it says I need to boot the CD in order to repair Windows XP but the problem is that I don't have the CD. How would I fix the problem?
Borrow the cd from someone or buy a cheap copy. Any xp professional cd will do.
Do NOT reformat and reinstall as you will lose all your current programs and data.
In general you want to do a repair install and NOT use the repair console.
