Help upgrading my processor...?
I want to upgrade my processor. It is a pentium 4 3.2ghz. My pc is the dell optiplex gx620. It is this one:

Not the tiny version or the all in one. My problem is this, I have no idea which processors I can upgrade to. I have seen some people upgrade to a pentium d. But I do not know my socket size because I have seen different versions of both my pc and processor. Would and upgrade to the pentium D work? Or would it not fit?
PS I have an upgraded graphics card and power supply as well so if it needs a better one of those I have it.
Surprisingly I can run mercs 2, mirrors edge, l4d2 with no problem. And GTA EFLC runs with only slight lag. I was just hoping I could eliminate the lag and maybe get some more games with higher processor requirement.

They have the same motherboard but not the same chassis..
According to the site this is the fastest cpu that the motherboard can support

You have the socket 775 with the pins on the socket and not the cpu.. Just clean up the old thermal grease and apply new when swapping the processor.
My advice is this.. Your pretty much beating a dead horse. The Pentium D series run very HOT.
Its just like adding another heater inside the computer and not much performace increase. If your into games don't expect to perform very well. The pentium 4 was actually slow per clock speed compared to the pentium 3..
