Windows XP pentium 4 and an external dvd/cd burner. Why does my computer shut itself off?
I have the above with 200 Ghz of memory and it is a laptop. I am using studio 8 program to burn to make picture dvd and cd's (external burner). It does well with shorter burns of maybe 10-20 pictures but anything more than than and AVI video to burn it shuts itself off when rendering the information. I really want this to work...and as less expensive as possible. For my kids teachers and family for gifts. Any ideas as to why it shuts down. I close all applications and taskbar before the burn. If it is a driver upgrade issue how to do you solve this and download for free? HELP.......PLEASE...........HELP!!! THanks!
You either have an incompatible driver installed or your burning software is imcompatible. The driver may be either incompatible with windows itself or the burning software program that you are using. You can go to the burner manufacturer website and see if you can find a firmware update for it. Look for an update for your burning software. If you are using an intel chipset go to intel's website and download the drivers for the chipset. They have a utility program that will check and tell you what type of chipset that you have. You can also try a different burning software program. Nero has a demo if you do not have it installed already. Also if you have Roxio installed there has been issues with the older software. If you have Roxio try to update it or uninstall it if you do not plan on using it.
