Intel Core 2 Duo Processor t7700 (2.4 Ghz) or t7800(2.6Ghz)?
Hi, I am going to buy an XPS m1530 laptop. I am getting 3 gb of ram, the 8600 gt Nvidia, 200 gb 7200 rpm HD. High Resolution glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1680x1050) & 2MP Camera .... So far I am trying to see what processor to get. I am between the t7700 (2.4 Ghz) or t7800(2.6Ghz)? Is the difference very big between these 2 processors? What difference would it make in 3d applications (3ds max, Maya), CAD and gaming? are the extra couple hundred dollars spent on the 2,6 Ghz worth it? Thanks I would really appreciate it
Honestly get a desktop. I'm a designer who also does web work, CAD, IT support, animation, etc. You really do not want to get a laptop and stick with Maya it's much better than 3d studio in my opinion. Plus with a desktop you can upgrade your video card and trust me you want to be able to do that along with getting atleast 500 to 1000GB of drive space. Drives are cheap these days. I currently run a dual 2.5 mac desktop with 8GB ram and 2TB of drive space. Downfall is Maya runs a little better in windows in most parts and I cant use 3d studio on mac.. though not that I'd want to run the program anyways. Also if your work is important look into an external drive big enough to backup your main drive. Being a system admin, I know how important it is to backup. Another thing is I started doing animation when a 1.4GHz processor was the best and im not talking duo core either. pentium 4 1.4 with 1gb ram.
