does the term "ghost backup"and ""image backup" mean the thing?
I am trying to make a bit by bit backup of my hard drive [includeing the os] that is bootable incase of a drive chrash
Yes a "ghost backup" creates a virtual image of a drive on another drive. For example, suppose my C drive is 40 GB and my D drive is 300GB. I can create a "ghost" of my C drive on the D drive so I can restore the C drive from the D.
An "image" backup refers more to creating an entire image of the drive to be backed up including boot sectors, again so you can restore the data in case of failure. The best way to create a bootable image is to use a RAID 1 configuration with two drives of the same size. This way the RAID software automatically creates a mirror on the fly.
