Rough estimation: How much/What you can put in a 160 gb hd without having to go into RAM?
ok let me help you with this.
HDD: A device that stores data for use within a computer, for example the operating system, programmes and Personal files
RAM: Random Access Memory, this is allocated to programmes and system process when the computer is running, the more ram you have the more data from programmes can be stored and effectively speeds up your processes
RAM is not useable as a HDD or as storage space, RAM should not be thought of when thinking of space, as for a 160GB HDD this would be more than enough for any normal computer user.
However power users like me who have lots of large programmes, games, videos, movies and music prefer much larger space and /or a RAID setup which you don't need to worry about. Power users tend to go with larger amounts such as 500GB+ i personallyy have 1.25TB of space (or 1274GB) and this is way above the normal computer users really sensible or logical amount to have.
So stick with your 160GB unless you have a lot of msuic, otherwise consider a 320GB if its a laptop or a 500GB if its a PC as they only cost about $60 nowadays...
