If you have an administrator password on your XP computer, and have forgotten it, it can be a struggle to know how to get around the problem & regain access to your system. Fortunately, there are several simple ways you can use to get back into your XP machine without causing any further damage / problems to your system. Here's what you need to do...
There are currently 2 ways to regain access to your PC if you've forgotten the password. These include reinstalling your entire system or using some "password reset" software to reset the password for you. Both of these methods work by changing the stored password settings on your computer to make your PC think you don't have any stored password at all. This will then allow you to log in without the need for a password.
The only problem is that reinstalling the Windows system wipes all the data on your hard drive. This is a big problem if you want to keep your settings, files and downloads... making the second option (password resetter software) to be the only real way to regain access to your PC. Password reset software has become quite popular over recent years, thanks to its simplicity and effectiveness. This software works by scanning through the various stored password settings on your PC, and then removing the stored data that's inside. This makes your computer think there is no stored password, allowing you to log in again.
Fortunately, all Windows systems have their passwords stored in the same way - in a series of files and settings on your hard drive, which are continually being used to compare your inputted password with the one on file. And this means that no matter if you have an XP PC, or a Windows 7 system, you can use this software to remove the stored password settings for your computer, allowing you to log back in. To use this software, you first need to download the "parent" application onto a PC you still have access to. This will then allow you to open up & create a "boot CD" for your locked PC. This boot CD can then be used to load up before your Windows installation starts to load, where it will then go through all the stored password files on your hard drive, and remove them. This method is extremely effective (if you can find the correct software to download), or you could also reinstall your system (but this will lose all your data).
