Getting a new processor?
I'm thinking about getting a new processor for my Dell OptiPlex GX280 tower. The problem is that I'm not exactly sure what I should get... Currently I have an Intel Pentium 4 530 "Prescott" 3.00 GHz with a 1MB L2 cache. The motherboard is a Dell, model 0G5611, which has a LGA 775 socket. I figure the best processors to get would be the current Intel Pentium, Core 2, or Celeron processors. I would prefer one that works faster and better than the Pentium I have right now, and is, give or take, $250 or less. What are your suggestions as to which one I should get? Post a link to where I can buy the processor, preferably Newegg or Amazon.
