I have the fastest cable wi-fi available in my house. But my laptop only connects at 5.5 mgbs per second. Why?
I have an HP 1700 (only about 3 years old).
When I first start up my computer it connects at the top speed of 54 megabites per second, but then soon goes from 42, to 36, to 24, to finally a crawly 5.5
Is there something I can do?
Where are you getting these numbers? What are you using to measure? What else is connected to your wireless?
Remember, your connection to the internet is only as fast as the slowest link which, in this case, is probably not your router. I doubt your internet connection is much faster than 5.5mbps anyway. 6 maybe? 8? What kind of internet are you using?
