GX620 Processor help please?
Hi, I need help upgrading my cpu on my GX620. It is currently running a 2.8 ghz. No VT option is shown in the bios. Bios version is A11. My question is whether or not a VT supporting processor will work in my computer. (I realize that the VT option may not be available) I am looking at the Pentium D930, D950, and D960 cpus. for possible replacements because I want the computer as fast as possible without issues such as hangs or cpu overheating issues. By the way, the heatsink installed stock has many fins with heat pipes running through them so I think it is a better heatsink. Thanks for any advice or help you can give. JD
First be sure that BIOS also supports the Pentium D series. The Pentium Ds support Virtualization technology but it looks like your mobo does not.
The D930 is not too hot at 95W TDP. It is the D950 that tends to run hot at 130W TDP.
