Can I upgrade my Gateway® GT5464 Desktop's processor?
The processor I have (1.6 Ghz) is not very fast for my gaming hobbies. I have a nVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT than serves me well enough, and I'm maxed out with 2G RAM. Before beginning the long process of building a super gaming machine...I would like to get this one as fast as possible. Can I do it and is it worth it?
You're computer has a LGA 775 socket, which is the one that came right before the i7's i5's and i3's sockets. It is possible to upgrade your processor, tough you cannot exceed 800Mhz Front Side Bus (FSB).
The Intel E5300 would be a great upgrade, at under $100. Dual Core @2.6Ghz
