How can I make my laptop more like my desktop?
I have an hp desktop with a pentium D with 2.66GHz, 1 GB of RAM running Windows XP. The laptop I just got is a toshiba with an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-52, 1GB of RAM running Windows Vista. I'm thinking about returning it because it is soooo much slower than the PC. At rest it uses half of the system's RAM and takes almost three times as long to start up as the PC. What would be the best way to get the performance up? I've thought of some options: buy another gig of RAM, install Windows XP on the laptop, buying a faster processor for the laptop (seems too expensive for the effect it would have). What do you guys think of these options? any others?
Yes, Vista is very slow...you really need 2GB of RAM to get Vista up to par. It's a resource hog. XP would run great on those specs, so feel free to put the blame on Vista.
