standby mode in win xphelp fast?
my computer is doing a recovery program and i am recovering 248GB of data, anyways, it will take a long time, 24hours plus, very long, when im at school or want to give my unpowered 1.2ghx dell a rest,
will putting it in standy mode save the current recovery proccess. the program is scanning my drive and bla, and if i turn it off i have to starover,
will putting it in standby save the current prossess. thank you
I'm not 100%, but I think putting it in standby is a really BAD idea...
Standby mode doesn't simply power down the screen, it powers down graphics, soundcards, hard drives, etc.
The only things kept running is the motherboard, memory and processor, so it can wake up without loading the Operating system again.
I can imagine the recovery program will hit an error when it tries to read/write from the drive and it was powered down.. this could mean it having to start again.
