Core 2 quad VS core 2 duo?
Cnet recently rated the gateway Sx2800 Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200(2.33GHz) far better than anything else in the class.
So my question is for basic computing like surfing the net maintaining anti virus programs and occassional downloading and really no gaming or any fancy programs .
Is the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200(2.33GHz) faster than DELL Intel Core 2 Duo E8400(3.0GHz)
How can a slower rated quad core be faster than a faster rated duo core?
Quad core means it has 4 cores, and Dual core means it has 2. The quad core will run a lot faster even at a lower speed because it has more cores. Dual cores are really fast, but quad cores are just as fast, and you can multitask a lot more. I would sugest to you a dual core because unless your going to be running demanding games and watching movies at the same time, you don't need the power of a quad, and duals are great too
