Question about Vista storage?
I was having problems with losing GB almost every day. I have a 147GB and it was showing that I only had 113GB left on there and I barely have anything installed.
I talked to Geek Squad and they told me to do the Start, Programs, Accessories, Run as Administrator, then told me what to type in. They told me for safety, the minimum that I should reduce my Shadow Storage was 2GB. That is exactly what I did and now I have 134GB instead of 113GB free.
I didn't pay for this information and I didn't take it into Best Buy either, I just talked to them on their 24-hour emergency IM.
My computer will be alright, won't it? I trust the Geek Squad because they have helped me in the past and it saved my computer.
Also, can anyone tell me exactly what Shadow Storage is needed for? I am pretty good with computers, but I am fairly new at Vista. I miss XP.
I believe shadow storage relates to the storage space windows allocates for system restore information...so the less shadow storage, the fewer restore points your system will be able to maintain.
