why wont my computer that is windows xp home edition not starting up striaght away all i get is a blk screen?
my computer when i shut it down shuts down normally but when i go to start it back up again it wont start up and all i get is a blk screen and it takes ages to load up on to the welcome screen , once its up and running i have no problems it works as good as new , ive tried various things , reformat ,virus scans ,spy bot,defrag ,disk clean , i dont know what else to do , if any one can offer help i would be grate ful, im also not an expert so make your answers easy for me to understand

FYI if anyone has to hit the switch to power down their pc after they shut down Windows, this can be remedied by ticking the box in power options on the APM tab if your motherboard supports this feature. This is Advanced Power Management. When Windows is upgraded from 98/ME to XP the default for APM is not checked.
