Can a PC running Windows XP Home Ed. take FULL ADVANTAGE of an Intel Core Duo Processor?
I want to know if i will be able to use core duo technology with home edition. i know that home edition is not comaptible with multi-processors so there is reason to believe that it wont work. on the other hand, core duo is only one processor that is mimicking 2. so what i want to know is, will i able to use win xp home edition with a core duo the same way i would use any other OS that can handle a dual processor ? in other words will i be able to do things like assign seperate processes to the seperate cores of a core duo while using windows xp home edition etc etc etc?
I know Windows XP Pro and Media Center editions can use core duo like a dual processor. I need to know about Home edition though.
ps: we all already know that even with hyperthreading chips, 2 processers show up in the utilities.
Not to be an asshole or anything, But who cares about full advantage. Core Duo is a totally bullshit marketing scam. Go look at some benchmark test, duo does not 1 up the solo at all. Dual core is also very different then Hyperthreading. If your computer runs great, don't worry about it, honestly the proccesor is one of the least of your worries on a laptop, go for faster ram, and nicer video cards. More cpu power=less battery life. Take full advantage of your proccesor by installing a newer OS. Windoze Xp is getting old! Wait for Vista, you will prob have ALOT more luck with the support.
