Can I expect the laptop to run faster? If so, by how much?
Cpu is much better so cpu intensive task like video encoding-decoding .... will be better but the graphics of the desktop is far better than laptop so gaming will be better on desktop.
You can install win7 on pc as well and the ddr3 Ram is not going to help much ,(mostly in games) .
The speed will be visible only in case of gaming and cpu intensive tasks.
While the desktop will be your gaming center , laptop will be your number crunching machine !!
