what the steps to be followed to protect my computer from getting slow?
actually my computer is too slow. < xp, dual core, 80gb hardisk, 512mb ram, etc..>
You can do all of the above (disk defrag, system cleanup, delete unused files, uninstall unused programs). You can also make some hardware upgrades, such as adding another 512mb of RAM or 1gb more of RAM, you should only go up to 2gb of RAM though. You can upgrade your processor if you wish to dump some more cash, or insert another dual core processor, like my laptop (which runs vista, and has two intel core duo processors). Don't upgrade to vista if you don't have at least 2GB of RAM, because your computer will be even slower. Hope I helped.
