why carnt I install my disk driver for XP Pro 64?
Ive disconnected all usb ports, removed all but one ram stick, Ive got all the correct drivers, got the latest bios version. my system is 64bit compatable. once I press f6 to install driver at the first installtion of XP Pro 64 it askes for a floopy, once ive done that a error (18) message appears.
One test you can do to verify hardware is run a LiveCD of Ubuntu-64. Drive the computer with your CD reader. For me, Ubuntu-64 installed in 11 minutes flat and I had all my RAID, ethernet, USB, internet. With the LiveCD it will run much slower and might not have the RAID but you could verify USB and all the other connections.
If you go for it, download the ISO of Ubuntu64 (I use the older version named Drake). Use a disk image burner like Nero7 to make the CD.
Also, I had to VMware XP64 (I don't know if it's Pro or not). But I run XP from a CD with a few apps I might need.
