NTLDR is Missing after formatting hard drive?
Okay, so I wanted to upgrade from Windows 2k to Windows XP. It said that I needed to clean install, so I wiped/formatted my hard drive like it said. I boot up my computer after that and get the error message "NTLDR is Missing" with "Press Ctrl+Alt+Del" and sometimes "Press any button to continue" after it. I did both and nothing happend. We've tried using our old 2K Full Restore Disk and only get "OS system not found", which is another problem within itself. We've tried booting back up with our Western Digital Hard Drive disk, but all we get is the same formatting option.
We need help. Please respond, any replys are appreciated.
Wiping/formatting your hard drive cleaned everything. You need to restore the Win2000, then run the XP upgrade cd , if you bought the XP upgrade cd instead of the full retail version. If you only have the Full Restore disk for win2K, and not the full OS, you will need to get the full install CD of XP/SP2 and install that instead of the upgrade CD. NTLDR is missing means there is no operating system on the hard drive.
