my internet is not working (secondary computer in house) but on this comp it is?
i just reinstalled xpp on my desktop and ran the ethernet wire to the computer, plugged it in, lights flashed but internet didnt work. took a laptop in plugged it into the wire, internet worked. tries setting up the connection with network connections and said cannot find network hardware
btw it has a built in ethernet port and it worked before on a different hard drive
Even though you get lights if the driver is not the correct one you won't connect. After reinstalling XP Windows probably installed a driver that is not working. On a working computer go to the computer's or net card web site, find the driver for the Network Adapter and load it to a CD or flash drive. Install it on the computer and you should be OK.
