i have a a old lappy with 2 gb ram and a 320 gb hard disk

u see the ram chip is much smaller and compact when compared in size to that of a desktop ram, so it cant be used.
then for the harddisk, laptops use the sata hard disks and they can be connected to desktops with cables. but since u say it is older model u should think of it again.
is suggest u sell that lappy and buy new hard disk and ram.
