If you had £500 to spend on a home PC what would you buy?
I need a new desktop pc, the monitor is new so only need a base unit and new keyboard. I currently run an old Dell with 80Gb memory and upgraded RAM of 512Mb and use Windows XP. However, not sure which pc is best - Dell, HP or Fujitsu Siemans etc. So what would be your choice?
I want an upgraded processor (dual core) so do not want to upgrade the old Dell as its pretty much clapped out and very slow.
I would build a new one, it is not hard, you just need to make sure you have all the parts you need, Case, PSU, Motherboard, Ram, CPU, Graphics card, sound card(optional - most Motherboards come with decent onboard sound), you could use your old hard drive and buy a second one if you require more space. It is far cheaper to build a new PC than it is to buy one of the same specs. Good luck and have fun 
Alternativly, if you dont want to build one, I have had experience with Dell computers and from what i can tell they are pretty good, HP's that i know of are usually a little over prices (but dont quote me on that).
