PC UPGRADE (HP COMPAQ d530)?
hi, i have a hp compaq d530 with 120 gig hard drive - 1.25 gig RAM - and 512mb graphics. This is run buy a P4 processor (FSB 577MHz est.)
I know that i can up the RAM to 2 gig
But
i want to upgrade the processor, this is so i can run more RAM 4-8gig any ideas or helpful tips/hits would be great

If my google searches were correct, your PC is running a P4 clocked at 2.8ghz ?
You already have one of the higher end P4's, so the next step up is either the 3.0 ghz P4 (a tiny 200mhz difference) or a 3.4 ghz (+600mhz)
My suggestion? stick with what you have. It's not worth buying a new (actually, P4's are ancient stuff) CPU just for a measly 600mhz increase. What you can do now is to probably upgrade that RAM to 2 GB, then wait for a few months till you have the funds to build a new computer.
