For Working with HD Video on Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro, What is Better, Core 2 Quad or i7?
I'm looking to assemble a computer and i need some advice, i make videos with Sony Vegas Pro 8.0, i have a relatively slow computer, in relation to working in HD, i use a Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz Computer and it definitely doesn't suffice,, other than processors can anybody suggest parts that i should get? Things like video cards, hard drives, motherboards, power supplies and so on. Thanks.
For a pretty standard editing PC, I would recommend:
- A reasonable CPU (if you can, i7)
- Plenty of RAM, at least 4GB
- A big enough hard drive for everything your currently working on (for me that's 3TB, for you it might be more, less... You're probably looking at something from 500GB - 1TB)
- A decent graphics card. Not everything will work with everything else, so make sure that your graphics card is compatible with your motherboard, CPU etc... For HD video editing, I'd recomend about 512MB dedicated graphics memory.
Other than that, you should be fine with pretty standard motherboards, power etc. If you do really high intensity stuff, consider a liquid cooled system, at least make sure you have plenty of air flow...
