Would an upgrate to 2gb ram benifit my new dual core processor?

I'm running windows seven with 1gb of pc3200 ddr ram, as well as a ATI 3450 video card. Overall my system is pretty snappy, but it lags a tiny bit on HD flash video.
Anyway would an upgrade to 2gb ram optimize the power of of my AMD X2 4200 processor?
or will 1gb work fine?
