Cannot set correct resolution on plasma TV using Vista Ultimate or Media Center Edition 2005.?
My goal is to use my TV's Native resolution (1366x768 @ 60Hz) under Vista Ultimate or MCE 2005.
TV: Panasonic TH-50PH9UK with optional TY-FB8HM HDMI add-in board installed
Video Cards: nvidia FX 5600XT and 6800. Used the most current drivers from nvidia's site for MCE and Vista.
Connected PC and TV two ways (not simultaneously):
1. DVI-to-HDMI Convertor plus HDMI Cable from PC to TV
2. VGA cable from PC to TV
Results:
In MCE 2005 or Vista using the VGA connection on the FX 5600XT, the closest match I can use is 1360x768. In this case, I have to use the TV's controls to stretch the picture to make sure all pixels of TV are being used.
Using DVI-to-HDMI, 1280x720 is the closest match.
Frustrating Observations:
In all combinations, I could not set a custom resolution of 1366x768 @ 60Hz. Every time, I received an error message disallowing it.
The closest (untolerable) option I could find was 1366x768 Interlaced.
I hope someone can help.
I had a similar problem with a dvi to hdmi on my samsung LCD.
I just used a DVI - VGA connection instead worked fine.
Going to be honest with you no idea why there was a problem maybe the HDMi is just not designed for that kind of connectivity.
Or maybe we are just both being dumb and there is a way. I tried quiet a lot of messing around different video cards etc I even had my uncle whos an IT engineer come and check it out no joy.
