How can I get my Gateway XP Pro computer to recognize my DVD as a DVD?
The computer used to recognize the drive fine, but now it sees it as a removable drive. My burner programs now say that I have no burner available.
You should reinstall your DVD drivers. You can do this by right clicking on My computer and selecting Manage. Once in Computer management select Device Manager. Find DVD/CD Rom in the list click on the plus sign. right click on everything that shows up and select uninstall one at a time. Once those are gone check for other devices and unistall anything in that section. Restart your computer.
If that does not work Your DVD drive has probably gone bad
