CD ROM drives aren't recognized by Windows XP?
My computer will not recognize the CD ROM drives within Windows XP. I checked inside the computer and changed the IDE cable from the motherboard to the drives. I made sure everything was plugged in and correct. When I rebooted a message fromt he systray said that there was new hardware found and it needed the drivers. The CDR is MSI brand and the CDRW is BenQ. I have never needed the drivers for them before but I can't put the disks in the ROMs since it's not showing up in My Computer. I've checked for drivers elsewhere and haven't had any luck. I looked in the BIOS, both CDROMs show up there. All Windows updates are current along with Norton Anti-virus.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
u probally uninstalled the drivers.... goto the website of the manufactors and look for the drivers there its all i can say
