When building a new computer how does the DVD drive installation work?
In detail here, I know how to slide and bolt it and and connect it and what not, but what about drivers? I'm installing a 500gb HDD with no OS on it, how am I going to run the install DVD for my OS if there are no drivers to make the DVD drive work?
Optical drives do not need drivers. Just make sure that you change the settings in the BIOS so that your DVD drive is the number 1 in Boot Sequence/Priority. You might see different terminology used as you might had a different brand of Motherborad. Once this is done insert your XP disk, save settings, restart and it should load the disk.
