How do I get my computer to recognize my DVD burner?
I installed (or so I thought) a new DVD writer, but it does not show up in My Computer. It ejects when I push the button so I think it is plugged in OK.
I misplaced the installation CD but downloaded the driver off the internet, but when I tried to install it, even the driver said there was no burner.
Help!
In answer to Keith S, I am using windows and the burner is a Pioneer DVR-111D. When I search for new hardware, Windows can't find it.
I think I might have both my CD-Writer and DVD-writer set to master so I will try changing that, but I am sure that would not have such an effect.
Whats the make and model # of your DVD burner & whats your operating system ?
When you boot to windows does it show in the bios?
Have you checked your bios settings ?
Unplug everything except your dvd burner,see if that works .
