Intel Quad Core VS AMD Quad Core?
Im going to get a new PC soon and im wondering which of the two processors is better in a standard desktop. Also, my dad works for HP and has assess to discounted, refurbished workstations. As a gaming computer, would a workstation be worth the extra penny? The quad cores in those are complete power horses, but is the extra cost for this really worth it?

Intels are faster, and despite the fact that some AMDs can be had for cheaper, the Intels are so much faster that they still win on price/performance. Avoid workstations for gaming, they are not suited for it. Others have said games don't take advantage of quad cores, but everyone seems to forget that not everyone buys a new CPU every six months. Upcoming games WILL take advantage of the four cores, so buy for the future.
