Everything's connected correctly Computer just won't recognize this drive. Also I'd like to add that the hard drive is new and I'm trying to do a fresh install of an OS.
HP Computers (Compaq is an HP company) are notorious for having a BIOS setting which affects their ability to recognize SATA HDDs
Open the BIOS Setup (Usually F2) at the beginning of the boot sequence.
In one of the Hard disk drive option menus you will see a simple choice along the lines of
SATA HDD Support: Disabled
Change this setting to Enabled and reboot. Usually this works without any additional drivers necessary.
