'USB device not recognized' on my Compaq computer with Windows XP. Please provide your valuable answer to fix it. It was all working good since 2004 and suddenly stopped recognizing any device hooked up with USB including camera, flash drive, printer and everything that hooks up the system with USB.
Go to: Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > navigate down to USB Root HUB (all of them) > Right Click > Properties > Power Management Tab > Un check "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
Retry your USB device...It should work now...
