How can i find the CD software for the Linksys WRT54G V8.2 router? Where is the software downloadable?
I lost the CD, but now I need to put a password on my router because other people are using my wireless internet without permission. I don't need the driver, I need the installation software on the CD. I need to find the installation software as soon as possible because without it my computer can't download anything safely.
no need for a cd,
just open your browser (internet explorer, firefox, etc) and in the address bar just type
192.168.1.1
then press enter
this will give you your routers login page, just add your username and password and you are in,
if you didn't set your username and password, then just --
leave the username blank
type admin for the password
press enter,
if someone has hacked into your router and changed the username and password settings, then you need to reset your router to factory settings,
somewhere around the case (usually at the back) you will see a small pin hole, inside is a reset button, push a pin in for 5 seconds, then reboot your router,
use 192.168.1.1 from a browser, username is blank and password is admin, press enter,
be aware that you will not be able to do this wirelessly - as everything is back at default,
you need to connect using an ethernet cable
now just use the routers settings pages to lock down your router
all your wireless keys will need to be reset on any pc's as well
