i bought a dell with coa it has windows xp pro i need to reinstall it but i don't have the cd to reinstall.
do i need to buy a new cd. or can i use my friends.
I had a similar situation with my hp laptop. With a lot of persistence, I finally got them to send me a cd; I had to make a number of calls, though.
I'm not sure about the friend's cd. It might work since you have your own certificate of authority--as far as I know, you can use any win xp pro disk for a new installation (not an upgrade disk), as long as you have a valid coa.
If that doesn't work, you should definitely get in touch with Dell; they should be able to advise you. In any case, you should not have to buy a new installation disk.
