Can you get a windows graphics card to work on linux?
I have the free version of Ubuntu OS (i think its 9.04 or something), and have recently installed it on a dell dimension 2300 desktop. The reason I have it installed is because I accidentally gave all my windows xp hard drives a virus, and now windows won't start up. Without a graphics card, Ubuntu barely loads youtube and games are extremely slow. I already have wine installed, but do not know how to use it. Can you get a windows graphics card to work on linux?
Hopefully you followed the instruction from ubuntu to install the OS properly.
You can try this; it may not solve all your problems but would be a start: Go to you main menu and look for an entry called "Hardware Drivers Manager" under the Systems menu. Enter your password and it will install any proprietary drivers that your card might need.
To get youtube videos to work you will need to install flash. The second link should help with that.
For the best results if you intend to use ubuntu as your OS you should read some of the instructions for ubuntu. Things in linux don't work the same way that they do in windows. THe third link has a lot of helpful info; select the version of ubuntu that you are using.
