Is This Ok For A Refurbished Computer?
Ok im getting a computer and i think i have found a good one but you tell me:
Brand: Dell
Family: Optiplex
Processor: Pentium III
Processor Speed: 800 Mhz
Bundled Items: Keyboard, Modem, Moniter, Mouse, Net. Card, Speakers
Memory (RAM): 128 MB
Hard Drive Capacity: 10 GB
Operating System: Windows XP (service pack 2)
Primary Drive: Cd/DVD Combo
COndition Refurbished
Is that stuff good?
I would get 512MB of RAM as a minimum, otherwise it would run DOG SLOW. If this computer cost only $100, and you spent another $100 for more RAM, and got a bigger hard drive for another $100... you would have a decent, but slow computer that might last 3 years. That's $300 for 3 years of use. WHO knows if the Windows XP with SP2 disk comes with, so you can reinstall it on a new and bigger drive? That would cost another $100.
Consider the $450 Compaq tower that you could buy from STAPLES. It comes with 512MB RAM, huge hard drive, but 3GHz speed and WIndows Vista Home Basic. Of course, the monitor is separate, but let's say $200. That's $650 for a computer that would last 7 years. That is under $100 per year of use. But you would have a faster and more modern computer.
