Would this computer be a good @ home standard PC?

I'm wanting a computer that's got speed, internet (I know I'll have to purchase separatally) I'll be downloading picutures and music. I also was wondering if anyone knows if this computer comes with any word processor or standard edition photo editor....
(I know that if space on my HD becomes an issue I could just save the majority of my photos onto a flash drive.)
I'm also looking to keep my price low... what's the step down from the intel core duo?
After years of buying nothing but HP (in large quantities - we have a few hundred computers), I got fed up with worse than zero quality and even worse tech support. I wouldn't take an HP (or Compaq) now if they paid me.
I've been buying Acer (which includes ASUS and Gateway) for a few years now, and I'm pretty happy with their products. (Stay away from the low-priced lines - no manufacturer puts out a good cheap computer.)
Windows computers come with Wordpad. If you want something better, and free, download Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/ ) The Microsoft Office installation that comes with the computer is a 60 day trial. After that you can read the files you've created, but you can't modify them, or create new ones, unless you pay for it. Open Office can read and write all the file types that Microsoft Office can, it's free and you can upgrade it every time an upgrade comes out - for free. Microsoft makes you pay for upgrades.
Graphics? Windows comes with Paing. Paint.net and GIMP are better - and they're both free.
A step down from core duo is a single core CPU. That's not something you want to be stuck with in coming years. I wouldn't go with less than a 2.3GHz dual core - either Intel or AMD.
Internet speed? Any computer will be faster than your internet connection, so that's not a consideration. But you want a CPU that's fast, has at least 2 cores (a quad core is faster), and has at least 6GB of RAM (with capability of expansion to more). Also you want a decent video (graphics) card. Anything but Intel. You'll find nVidia and AMD - either one is good, but the better cards will cost more.
A 19" monitor is trivial - buy a good computer and you can get a monitor for around $100 and small change.
Stay away from mini cabinets - they don't cool properly, so you get heat problems and early component failure.
