Is this a good PC configuration for 3D Modeling and HD Video Pro Editing?
I am a print graphic designer venturing into Pro Video Editing, looking for a basic but practical PC. Can I buy this HP Elite 127c-b desktop bundle at Costco for $1400 (25" HD LCD monitor included) - just wondering if it is a good PC for doing broadcast quality HD Video editing:
Configuration: Intel Core-i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, GT220 (1GB dedicated Video RAM) + 25" LCD panel
2 Questions:
1] Can $1400 dollars buy me a better machine?
2] Is this a good enough PC at least get my hands dirty with some cool 3D work

That should do fine, though you may want to upgrade the video card eventually. I DO recommend for media work that you get some experience working with a Mac though, Final Cut Pro is much more intuitive and produces better quality videos than Premiere or Vegas any day, which I am assuming you will be using.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am by no means a Mac fan boy and would not recommend a Mac to you if you weren't working with digital production.
