How to unlock the 4th core of a AMD Athlon II X3?
I have a AMD Athlon II X3 440. My question is how do you unlock the 4th core and is it safe? And If it doesn't work can it be undone?
You need an AMD motherboard chipset with ACC (advanced clock calibration) support (SB710 or SB750 southbridge) or an Nvidia motherboard chipset with the similar NVCC (NVIDIA Clock Calibration) feature. Then it's just a matter of enabling those options in BIOS, and seeing if it works.
