What is the difference between the Brisbane and Windsor AMD Athlon 64 X2 processors?
I'm building a computer, I want an AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor, but I don't know the difference between the Brisbane and Windsor ones. Any help?
Windsor are the first wave of AM2 processors to be released by AMD. They are pretty much a 939 CPU with an extra pin and DDR2 capability. What changed form Windsor to Brisbane is the manufacturing process. Windors are 90nm, Brisbanes are 65nm. In theory, Brisbane will run cooler and overclock better. If you have to choose between the two, go with Brisbane. To make it simple, its newer and more advanced. Good luck with your build.
