I want some new ram for my laptop?
My laptop is running a bit slow so i wanted to buy some more ram it currently has 1gb of ram, the spec says it has a 2gb max.
I wanted to know if that is just a guide or the absolute most and you cannot have more?
My laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-AR11S, operating on Windows xp Media Centre Edition but i am going to upgrade it to Windows 7.
If the specs specify 2Gb Max RAM then that is all the machine will support, although Windows will support more the machine itself will not. It is not a guide so yes it is the absolute most you can use.
As to your intention to install Windows 7 are you sure that it meets the minimum requirement for hardware? Run the Windows 7 upgrade adviser to be sure that you will not be wasting your money on software that your laptop will not run properly.
