building a new gaming rig. Anyone know any website selling well priced components? + some advice on rigs.?
So far i know of microdirect.co.uk and ebuyer.com to be quite good. Does anyone else have any other good website?
Also i was looking at getting a liquid cooling system. I have been looking at the thermaltake big water 745. Or i was thinking of getting a thermaltake case with liquid cooling already with it, does anyone know what cooling system these cases come with?
Also ive been considering a nvidia gtx8800 768mb for about £300. Is it really worth me spending this much on this, or going for a gt8800 512 for about half the price? im only going to be using one monitor, and if the gtx does drastically outstrip the performance of the gt id rather save some money.
Also i know dual cores are better for gaming, but i think im going quad because i use my computer for other things as well as gaming. Anyone experienced gaming using quadcore, is it really as bad as everyone makes out?

I'd go with the one supplier for everything as a few £ price difference is often wiped out by postage costs. I have used both of the above and not had a problem. Overclockers is focused towards high performance, watercooling etc and prices are keen.
I run an E6600 dual core and GTX8800, it's a great combo, if you can afford it go Quad though (they were very expensive when I built this machine) the GTX will run everything current and when prices drop I'll put in a 2nd card in SLI to keep current. I can run Bioshock, CoD4 etc maxed out at 1680x1050 Crysis is also playable but I have to back off the AA for a smooth framerate otherwise maxed out.
Don't forget a good powerful PSU (get one over a watercooler if money is tight). The case I am using is the Antec 900 looks good, is reasonably quiet and keeps everything cool. I'm not overclocking though, if you are I'd probably upgrade the cooling (using a std intel cooler).
